The 21st's Century

Where to begin? Chicago’s 21st ward has all the “bones” to be one of the better areas in the entire city. You may be skeptic, but consider this the 21st is served by CTA and Metra rail along with buses four of which provide owl service. If one has been following the Wal-Mart debate/development it seems it’s a food desert. The facts actually show the contrary. How many wards can boast two Jewels, Aldis, Food 4 Less, and two Wal-Marts in its near future? The ward is also served by national retailers such as Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowes with an assortment of clothiers and shoe stores.
With all I have listed the main draw of the area I believe has to be the Dan Ryan. For those who drive you can be downtown in minutes or out of city in a few quick miles something that is a huge advantage for weekend road trip out of town.
As we all know everything is not rosy in the 21st. Crime is an issue which must be addressed, but we as responsible citizens must take an active part. No longer should it be ok to allow groups to hang out in front of homes. If you know that a home is unoccupied alert the alderman and police to allow proper patrols to take place. Remember this is a beautiful area of the city and with our care and respect it can be the city’s finest.

Let me hear from you, tell me some pros about the 21st ward.
